William Fleming
As President and CEO of Nacerna Life Sciences, Mr. Fleming is a visionary leader with a distinguished background in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he served as an infantry officer. His military experience has instilled a disciplined, strategic approach that he brings to his entrepreneurial and biopharmaceutical ventures.
As the former Founder and CEO of Halucenex, Mr. Fleming led groundbreaking research in psychedelic therapies, establishing the company as a leader in mental health treatment solutions. His entrepreneurial ventures span technology, mining, and cannabis, showcasing his versatility and innovative acumen.
In addition to his role at Nacerna, Mr. Fleming is the Chairman of the Advisory Board, a Director, and the Chief Strategy Officer at Summit36. His strategic vision and expertise in business development continue to drive innovation and success across industries. At Nacerna, Mr. Fleming is pioneering advancements in psilocybin-based therapies, premium cannabis therapeutics, and bioterrorism countermeasures, while positioning the company as a leader in delivering transformative health solutions.
Brett Ayers
As a Director at Nacerna Life Sciences, Mr. Ayers brings over a decade of experience in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he continues to serve as a reservist with The Brockville Rifles. His leadership and strategic expertise, developed through his military service, have translated seamlessly into the business world.
As an entrepreneur, Mr. Ayers founded a successful CBD company that was later acquired by a portfolio of cannabis brands, further cementing his reputation for identifying and executing innovative business opportunities. His scaling of topical cannabis product lines showcases his ability to thrive in emerging markets.
In addition to his role at Nacerna, Mr. Ayers is the Chief Investment Officer and Vice Chair of the Advisory Board of Summit36 Capital Corp., a firm renowned for its innovative approach in blending artificial intelligence and machine learning to capital markets and trading strategies. At Nacerna, he leverages his diverse background to advance the company’s mission of delivering transformative health solutions, while positioning it for sustained growth and success.
Dr. Charles Williams
Dr. Charles Williams, Nacerna's Director of Quality, is an experienced professional in the medical cannabis and nutraceutical industries, with a strong background in chemistry and regulatory compliance. Over the course of more than 20 years, Dr. Williams has developed expertise in navigating complex Health Canada regulations, ensuring
product safety, quality, and compliance in the ever-evolving cannabis and nutraceutical sectors.
With a solid foundation in chemistry, Dr. Williams has contributed to the development of innovative formulations that meet stringent industry standards. He has played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between science and regulatory frameworks, enabling businesses to bring high-quality, compliant products to market efficiently.
Dr. Williams is passionate about advancing public health through safe, effective, and scientifically-backed products. In addition to regulatory compliance, he has a deep understanding of product development, quality assurance, and market dynamics in the medical cannabis and nutraceutical fields. Dr. Williams has aided in bringing a Cannabis facility from concept to sales in the complex Canadian Market.
Dr. Williams holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from McGill University and has completed specialized training in Quality Assurance. Outside of work, he enjoys golf and tennis and staying updated on the latest advancements in health and wellness.
Carl Macaulay
Nacerna's Director of Security, Carl MacAulay, has a diverse background in law enforcement, public relations, business development, marketing and security. He retired from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 2015 after 25 years’ of service.
Carl has extensive training in all forms of criminal investigations, including suspect interrogation, drug investigations, weapons and serious case management. After retiring from the RCMP Carl became the Chief Animal Protection Officer for the province of New Brunswick. Leading a province wide 25-member team investigating wildlife, domestic animal and livestock abuse, with approximately 2500 files a year investigated under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Carl has been involved in the private sector also overseeing security guidelines for one of Atlantic Canada’s largest immigration companies Work Global Canada. Work Global Canada has many foreign immigration clients in which Carl oversees protocols protecting this process from illegal outside influences.
Carl also was the Security Director and RPIC (Responsible Person in Charge) for Health Canada Cannabis application Spot Therapeutics based in Fredericton New Brunswick, with a cultivation license being issued March 25, 2019.
